Although Father and Son teams have historically fallen under scrutiny for their lack of "balance" and objective view of the fighter's ability, there have been occasions where this unique combination has proven to be magical. The Trinidads, the O'Gradys, the Benitez' have proven that they were and are exceptions to the rule that the complexities of a family don't mix with boxing. Make no mistake about it, this is one of those exceptions. There's no doubt where the loyalties are in this relationship. Both trainer and boxer, father and son have a unique bond and a clear understanding what it will take to rise to the next level...together.

Spencer's amazing maturity and unwavering work ethic, mixed together with his total coach-ability, demonstrates a strength of character seldom seen at this early stage of a boxer's career. But those very traits are what make Spencer an exciting prospect to watch every time he gets in the ring.Spencer's immediate goal is to improve each time out and progress toward Olympic Gold. Typically this might sound like a lofty, premature ambition, but after watching only flashes of this young man in the ring...you'll see just exactly what the future of boxing looks like. His awareness of what is going on between the ropes and grasp of the sport are evident and the total belief he has in himself is contagious.

At only twenty years of age, Spencer is breaking barriers and making his own rules for what is possible and what is predestination. What he is able to accomplish inside the boxing ring is a foregone conclusion...all that's uncertain is which road he will take to get there.
