SPENCER
WARD
Although Father and Son teams have historically fallen under scrutiny for their lack of "balance" and objective view of the fighter's ability, there have been occasions where this unique combination has proven to be magical. The Trinidads, the O'Gradys, the Benitez' have proven that there were and are exceptions to the rule that the complexities of a family don't mix with boxing. Make no mistake about it, this is one of those exceptions. There's no doubt where the loyalties are in this relationship. Both trainer and boxer, father and son have a unique bond and a clear understanding of what it will take to rise to the next level...together.
Spencer's amazing maturity and unwavering work ethic, mixed together with his total coach-ability, demonstrates a strength of character seldom seen at this early stage of a boxer's career. But those very traits are what make Spencer an exciting prospect to watch every time he gets in the ring. His awareness of what is going on between the ropes, his grasp of the sport and total belief in himself is contagious and sets him apart in the world of prizefighting.
At only twenty-three years of age, Spencer is breaking barriers and making his own rules for what is possible and what is predestination. What he will be able to accomplish inside the boxing ring is a foregone conclusion...all that's uncertain is which road he will take to get there.
